Choosing the right solar panels and inverters

Inverter and solar panel life spans

In terms of life expectancy, high quality string inverters will typically need to be replaced every 10 and 15 years, depending on the quality of the product and maintenance activities in place. Cheap inverters may fail much earlier.

In regards to panels, life expectancy is often overlooked and many projects do not account for cost of panel replacement, even when using panels with only 10 years product warranty.

Many projects will rely purely on the ‘performance warranty’ which can be very limited in the event of product failure, and often is a legal nightmare to claim.

That’s why it’s better to pay a little extra upfront for high performing, reliable panels from a trusted manufacturer that will fully service warranty claims if needed.
